Fatal Auburn Gresham, Chicago shooting death of Robert S. Parker – Obituary
Robert S. Parker, a 37-year-old father of four, was killed in a double shooting last Monday afternoon in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago, authorities reported.
The shooting occurred around 4:45 p.m. on the 8500 block of South Aberdeen Street, where Parker and 44-year-old Diane C. Fisher were sitting in a parked GMC SUV. Witnesses said a group of individuals approached the vehicle on foot and opened fire.
Parker was struck twice in the head and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 5:01 p.m. Fisher suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. She later died Thursday morning. A 27-year-old man who was also in the SUV was not injured.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office classified both deaths as homicides. No suspects have been taken into custody, and detectives continue to investigate. Parker’s family has appealed to the public for help in locating those responsible.
Police are examining whether the shooting is linked to other recent gang-related activity in the area.
