Michael Scott American Horse, 45, was struck and killed on northbound Interstate 5 early Monday morning, according to Portland Police.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. at the ramp from I-5 northbound to eastbound I-84, just north of the SE Water Avenue exit. Emergency responders transported American Horse to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police reported that the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment or criminal behavior. Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the crash.
