Fatal St. Paul shooting death of David Lee Turner III – Obituary

Authorities say a 23-year-old St. Paul man was killed during a shooting tied to a drug deal that turned violent earlier this week. David Lee Turner III was found fatally wounded inside an SUV in the West Seventh neighborhood, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to court records, the shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Oneida Street. Police responding to reports of gunfire discovered Turner slumped in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Durango with multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy later revealed he had been struck eight times, including in the face, neck and chest.

Investigators say the incident stemmed from a marijuana transaction that escalated into gunfire. Surveillance video from nearby homes showed two vehicles arriving on the street at different times, with one man entering Turner’s SUV moments before shots were fired. Windows on both sides of the vehicle shattered during the exchange.

Eithan Armani Green, 29, of Minneapolis, has been charged with second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Prosecutors allege both Turner and Green fired weapons during the encounter. Green was later dropped off at Regions Hospital with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and leg and remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Police recovered shell casings from two different calibers inside Turner’s vehicle, along with nearly three pounds of marijuana. Investigators also located firearms and cellphones linked to the case through vehicle searches and phone records.

Authorities said a potential case against another individual involved is still under review. The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors continue to examine evidence connected to Turner’s death.
