Fatal Akron shooting death of Malcom Jamar Queen – Obituary

Malcom Jamar Queen was identified as the victim in a deadly shooting that occurred early Friday morning at an intersection in Akron, Ohio, according to authorities in Summit County.

Police officers and emergency medical crews were dispatched shortly after 2 a.m. to the area of Noah Avenue and Bye Street. When they arrived, they found Queen, 36, lying in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to Akron General Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The Summit County Medical Examiner confirmed that Queen’s death was caused by gunshot injuries and officially ruled the case a homicide.

Investigators reported recovering several shell casings from the scene, which they believe may help link the shooting to a specific firearm. A 911 caller told police they heard gunfire and then noticed a vehicle leaving the area moments later.

No arrests have been made, and detectives are actively working to identify a suspect or suspects. Police noted that this incident marks the fifth homicide in Akron so far this year, a figure higher than averages recorded in recent years.

Authorities continue to ask anyone with information related to the shooting or other violent crimes to contact the Akron Police Department as the investigation remains ongoing.
