Jonathan Williams, a 19-year-old resident of Lake Villa, lost his life following a serious traffic collision that occurred in Grayslake earlier this week, authorities confirmed.
The crash happened at approximately 2:13 p.m. on February 2, when police officers and firefighters were called to the intersection of Washington Street and Atkinson Road after reports of a collision involving injuries. When first responders arrived, they discovered two vehicles that had sustained extensive damage.
According to information released by investigators, Williams was driving a Volkswagen eastbound on Washington Street when his vehicle collided with a Toyota SUV. The SUV was being driven by an 86-year-old woman who was traveling west on Washington Street and attempting to make a left turn onto Atkinson Road.
Williams was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead in the emergency department.
An autopsy was performed on February 3, 2026, at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary findings determined that Jonathan Williams died from blunt force trauma to the head sustained during the crash.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Grayslake Police Department in coordination with the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.
