Fatal Gaines County crash death of Alejandro Gaytan – Obituary

Alejandro Gaytan, 43, of Seminole, lost his life in a deadly collision in Gaines County on Sunday, Feb. 8. The crash also left another man hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred around 11:05 a.m. when a 17-year-old driving a 2021 Ford F-250 failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 105 and County Road 104. The teen’s vehicle collided with a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, fatally injuring Gaytan, who was a passenger. The Silverado’s driver, Alfredo Flores of Seminole, was critically injured and taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

The minor driving the Ford and his 17-year-old passenger were unharmed, both secured by seat belts. DPS noted that Gaytan and Flores were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
