Jabes Gurrola, 19, was killed in a shooting that unfolded in a west Phoenix parking lot Sunday afternoon, police said. Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Indian School Road and Grand Avenue and found Gurrola suffering from gunshot wounds while seated inside a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the shooting occurred just after 4 p.m. in the parking lot of a Costco store. By the time officers arrived, the suspects had already fled the area.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led up to the deadly encounter and have not released information about possible suspects or a motive.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the shooting to submit an anonymous tip through Silent Witness by calling 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
