Marisa Salome Jimenez, 42, of San Antonio, Texas, was killed in a shooting in Union County, Florida, sheriff’s officials confirmed. Jimenez was fatally shot last Tuesday during a violent incident in Lake Butler.

Authorities say Jimenez was killed alongside Candace Joseph, 43, of Lake Butler. Investigators identified the suspect as Jason Holton, 47, Joseph’s ex-boyfriend, who allegedly shot both women before fleeing north on Interstate 75.

Deputies reported that Holton was later stopped in the Paynes Prairie area, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other suspects are believed to be involved.

Investigators said Jimenez had been assisting Joseph with moving out of the home she shared with Holton at the time of the shootings. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the deadly attack.
