Fatal Troy, Alabama car crash deaths of Rosolando V. Givens and Alkesa S. Liptrot – Obituary
Rosolando V. Givens, 52, and Alkesa S. Liptrot, 45, both residents of Troy, were killed early Sunday morning after a vehicle crash that occurred during an attempted traffic stop near the Troy University campus. Authorities confirmed both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the incident began around 1:48 a.m. on February 8 when a Troy University police officer tried to stop a 2008 Audi A4 that was stationary on Elm Street near campus.
Investigators said the vehicle, driven by Givens, sped away as the officer approached. The officer briefly pursued the car before it left the roadway and slammed into a utility pole.
ALEA reported that neither Givens nor Liptrot, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The fatal collision remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the attempted stop and subsequent crash.
