Carl Ollis, a 45-year-old man from Elizabethtown, lost his life early Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 65 in Kentucky. The deadly incident occurred along the southbound lanes near the 100-mile marker in the Colesburg area.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. following reports that a pedestrian had been hit while in the roadway. Investigators determined that Ollis was struck by a Dodge Durango operated by a driver traveling from Alabama.

Emergency responders pronounced Carl Ollis dead at the scene, with the Hardin County Coroner confirming his death shortly after arrival.

The crash prompted the closure of Interstate 65 southbound for nearly four hours as authorities carried out a detailed on-site investigation and reconstructed the collision. The case remains under investigation, with Kentucky State Police collision reconstructionist Detective Scott Wheatley overseeing the inquiry.
