Fatal Simpsonville, South Carolina car crash death of Deborah McClain Hice – Obituary

Deborah McClain Hice, a 74-year-old resident of Simpsonville, died Tuesday afternoon after her vehicle crashed into a dry retention pond behind Brashier Middle College in Simpsonville, South Carolina. The accident occurred around 3:43 p.m. on West Georgia Road.

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the incident began in the school’s parking lot when Hice’s SUV accelerated and sideswiped another vehicle. The SUV then continued across a grass field, breached a chain-link fence, and entered the dry retention pond, striking an embankment.

Troopers confirmed that Hice was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle was critically injured and airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officials reported that no one in the second vehicle sustained injuries.

The cause and manner of Hice’s death are still pending as authorities continue their investigation into the Simpsonville crash.
