Miguel Garcia Castillo, 25, was killed Feb. 7 after being struck by an Amtrak train near the intersection of Sand Canyon Road and Los Angeles Avenue in Somis. Authorities reported that emergency calls came in around 8:25 p.m., and deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Sgt. Christopher Zapata confirmed that Castillo, a male pedestrian, was pronounced dead following the incident. The sheriff’s office, which provides law enforcement services in Somis, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
