Wyoming authorities have identified Aleksey Fedun, 36, and Volodymyr Fedun, 74, both residents of Citrus Heights, California, as the two people who were killed in a fiery crash near Green River.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on Interstate 80 near mile marker 94. Investigators said a Freightliner combination truck was stopped illegally on the south shoulder of the eastbound lanes when a Volvo combination unit traveling east drifted onto the shoulder and struck the rear trailer of the parked Freightliner.
The impact caused the Volvo’s fuel tank to rupture, triggering a major fire that engulfed the cab. Both Aleksey Fedun, who was driving, and passenger Volodymyr Fedun died at the scene as a result of the crash.
