Authorities have confirmed that the young man who lost his life in a crash on the East Coast earlier this month was Harry Papuni, aged 24, from Anaura Bay.

Police said the fatal incident involved a single vehicle and occurred in Anaura Bay, approximately 75 kilometers from Gisborne, at around 2:10 a.m. on February 1. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Papuni did not survive the crash.

Investigators stated that inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision are still underway. Police extended their condolences to Papuni’s family and friends, acknowledging the difficult time they are facing.

The death has been referred to the coroner, and further findings will be released once the investigation is complete.
