Fatal Kershaw County, S.C. crash death of Chelsea Emily Moran – Obituary
Chelsea Emily Moran lost her life Friday night following a three-vehicle collision along Interstate 20 in Kershaw County. The 19-year-old from Chattanooga, Tennessee, was identified by the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office as the driver who died in the wreck.
According to Master Trooper Hannah Davidson with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 8 p.m. near the 92-mile marker close to Lugoff. Authorities said a 2016 International tractor-trailer traveling eastbound was hit from behind by a 2014 Dodge driven by Moran.
Investigators stated that the impact forced the tractor-trailer into the median, where it overturned. After the initial collision, the Dodge crossed through the median barrier and entered the westbound lanes. There, it was struck by a 2026 Volvo tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction.
Moran was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
