Fatal Kauai, Hawaii car crash death of Brandon Nakaahiki – Obituary
A tragic early morning collision on Kauai claimed the life of 35-year-old Brandon Nakaahiki and left another person seriously injured, according to authorities.
The crash happened around 4:10 a.m. on Friday, March 20, along Maluhia Road in the Koloa area. Police said Nakaahiki was driving a 2008 Honda sedan northbound when the vehicle crossed the center line while navigating a curve and struck an oncoming 2022 Toyota SUV.
Nakaahiki suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead following the crash. A 33-year-old woman from Koloa who was riding in the front passenger seat sustained serious injuries. She was first taken to Wilcox Medical Center before being airlifted to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu for further treatment.
The driver of the Toyota, a 70-year-old woman from Kapaa, was not injured in the incident.
Preliminary findings suggest that speed and weather conditions may have contributed to the crash. Authorities are still awaiting toxicology results to determine whether impairment played a role.
Maluhia Road was shut down in both directions for nearly three hours as investigators processed the scene.
Officials noted that this is the second fatal traffic incident on Kauai this year. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
