Fatal San Francisco shooting death of Edwin Depaz Maldonado – Obituary

Edwin Depaz Maldonado, 19, of Richmond, was killed during a shooting and assault in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco on the night of March 27, 2026. Officers responded around 11:12 p.m. to the intersection of 3rd and Harrison streets, where they found Maldonado suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite first aid and CPR administered on scene and continued life-saving efforts by medics, he later died at a hospital.

Two additional victims were assaulted during the incident but did not sustain gunshot injuries; they were treated at local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Police apprehended two suspects near the scene. Alongside Maldonado, 20-year-old Andy Segura Giron of San Rafael was taken into custody; Maldonado faced charges of murder and resisting arrest, while Giron faces a charge of assault likely to produce great bodily injury.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances and motive behind the shooting and have urged anyone with information to contact the San Francisco Police Department.
