John Pomeroy III, 25, of Tennessee, died Sunday in a motorcycle accident in Anderson County. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Pomeroy was traveling north on New River Highway when his motorcycle drifted off the road, went down an embankment, and struck a downed tree, ejecting him from the vehicle.

Authorities confirmed that Pomeroy was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
