Authorities have identified 47-year-old Victor Craighead of Harrisville as the suspect killed in a shootout with law enforcement in Diana, Lewis County, last Friday.

State police reported that Craighead emerged from his home at 7654 Alpine Road armed with a long gun and fired at responding officers. Trooper Timothy Dovi, a member of the Special Operations Response Team, returned fire with his division-issued weapon, striking Craighead. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident followed a trespassing complaint at a nearby property, where responding officers discovered two burned vehicles containing deceased individuals. Investigators are working to confirm the identities of those victims.

Trooper Dovi was not injured and is on critical incident leave. Police body-worn camera footage captured the confrontation but has not been released due to the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to examine the events leading up to the shooting.
