Authorities have identified the 50-year-old man who died after his vehicle collided with a bridge column in Irving earlier this month. Van Bawil Yan was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m. on March 11 at the scene of the crash.
Irving police responded to reports of an accident around 9:35 p.m. on the westbound lanes of Interstate 635. Upon arrival, officers found Yan’s vehicle had left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge column beneath State Highway 161.
Officials have not released any details on what caused Yan to lose control of his vehicle. The Dallas County medical examiner confirmed his death at the scene.
