Authorities have identified a construction worker who died after a fall at a downtown Wichita job site as 45-year-old David Rodriguez.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 11 a.m. to a site near English and Topeka after receiving reports of a worker who had fallen approximately 60 feet and suffered critical injuries.
Rodriguez was employed by Midwest Drywall, which confirmed the incident and stated that work at the site has been halted while the situation is under review.
In a statement, the company expressed condolences to his loved ones during what it described as a difficult time.
According to a fundraiser created in his honor, Rodriguez is survived by his wife and three young children, ages 9, 8, and 6. Those close to him described him as a dedicated worker who deeply cared for his family and friends, often bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
The fundraiser aims to support his family with funeral costs and daily living expenses as they cope with the loss.
