A 26-year-old woman, Nacease Spring, and 45-year-old Tyra Willingham were killed in a multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
The collision involved five vehicles at the intersection of Chicago Road and Joe Orr Road around 4:30 p.m. Witnesses described fiery wreckage and severe damage, with emergency crews responding to rescue multiple injured people.
Three juveniles involved in the crash were hospitalized with injuries. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirming their identities.
Authorities reported extensive destruction, including a snapped power pole that left hundreds without electricity, and stated that speed may have been a factor. The investigation remains ongoing.
