A 54-year-old man lost his life in a collision involving a utility truck in Menifee on Friday night.

Taylor Williamson, a resident of Homeland, was driving a Toyota Prius when the crash occurred around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Menifee Road and McLaughlin Road.

According to the Menifee Police Department, the Prius collided with a Southern California Edison truck that was in the process of turning left from a substation driveway while towing a wooden electrical pole. During the incident, Williamson’s vehicle struck the pole being pulled by the truck.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found Williamson with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Preliminary findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have contributed to the crash. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials have asked anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has additional information to contact the Menifee Police Department’s traffic unit.
