Fatal Ouray County car crash death of Alixzander Thomsen – Obituary
Authorities in Ouray County confirmed that 34-year-old Alixzander Thomsen died following a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 550 near Ridgway on Monday.
Emergency responders were called to the area just south of Ridgway after reports of a serious crash involving a Dodge Caravan and a truck pulling a flatbed trailer. Thomsen was identified as the driver of the van and was pronounced dead following the incident.
Investigators say the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic before striking the trailer of a Ford F-350. After impact, the van left the roadway and entered a ditch while debris from the trailer was scattered nearby.
Two passengers in Thomsen’s vehicle, a 12-year-old girl and a 74-year-old woman, were also injured and taken for medical treatment. Authorities reported that none of the occupants were restrained at the time of the crash.
The Colorado State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including contributing factors that may have led to the vehicle leaving its lane.
