Authorities in Springfield confirmed the death of a 58-year-old man following a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle earlier this week.
Emergency responders were called to Wabash Avenue on Monday night after reports of a serious crash. Charles Laughlin, who was riding the motorcycle, was transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 10:29 p.m.
Medical officials determined that he suffered multiple blunt force injuries as a result of the impact. The coroner’s office completed an autopsy that confirmed the nature of his injuries.
