A 24-year-old Air Force airman, Daris Benally, has died following a motorcycle collision in Great Falls that occurred earlier this week.
Authorities confirmed that Benally, who served at Malmstrom Air Force Base, was involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Third Street NW and 16th Avenue NW on April 9, 2026. He sustained critical injuries in the impact and was transported to Benefis Health System, where he later passed away.
Officials stated that Benally was a member of the 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron and originally from Rapid City, South Dakota. His role at the base involved work as a missile handler.
Police in Great Falls said the collision remains under active investigation. Early findings indicate that the incident involved two vehicles, and investigators have not classified it as a hit-and-run. At this stage, authorities have not confirmed whether any citations or charges will be issued.
