Authorities in Monmouth County are investigating a deadly pedestrian collision that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman late Tuesday night.
According to officials, Deborah Ross was struck while on Route 9 in Manalapan on April 7 at about 10:56 p.m. A driver operating a Nissan Frontier was traveling in the left lane when the vehicle hit her, sending her across multiple lanes of traffic.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident and confirmed that Ross suffered critical injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:26 p.m.
Law enforcement reports indicate the driver remained at the location after the crash and cooperated fully with investigators. As of the latest update, no charges or citations have been filed.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and local police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision and are asking witnesses or anyone with relevant information to assist the investigation.
