Tremayne Montgomery dies in fatal Milwaukee, Wisconsin shooting
Fatal Milwaukee, Wisconsin shooting death of Tremayne Montgomery – Obituary
A deadly shooting in Milwaukee earlier this month has claimed the life of 40-year-old Tremayne Montgomery, following an altercation that began inside a bar.
According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on April 4 near the intersection of Fond du Lac Avenue and Hampton Avenue at a bar identified as Fremos. Police responding to the scene found Montgomery lying outside with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by first responders to save him, he was pronounced dead at the location.
Investigators revealed that the situation escalated from a confrontation between Montgomery and 50-year-old Montrel Calhoun inside the bar’s restroom. Witnesses indicated the dispute may have involved a personal relationship, as Montgomery was reportedly the former partner of a woman connected to Calhoun.
Security personnel removed both men from the establishment, but the conflict continued outside. Authorities say gunfire followed shortly after, and witnesses reported seeing Calhoun standing over Montgomery with a firearm before leaving the scene in a black SUV.
Surveillance footage later reviewed by investigators allegedly shows Calhoun firing multiple shots, physically assaulting Montgomery, and striking him with a weapon.
Calhoun was later located at an apartment on Becher Street, where officers say he attempted to flee and at one point held a knife to his own neck while confronting police. He was subdued with a taser and taken into custody.
He now faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide, possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, and felony bail jumping. The case remains ongoing as authorities continue their investigation.
