Fatal SE Austin shooting death of Neithan Jadiel Montenegro – Obituary

Austin police have confirmed the identity of the 15-year-old victim killed in a shooting on Sunday morning, May 4, in Southeast Austin. Neithan Jadiel Montenegro was found at approximately 6:41 a.m. in the 5700 block of Hammermill Run, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Montenegro was pronounced dead at 7:08 a.m.

The suspect, Victor Javier Orellana-Carranza, 38, was arrested the same day while attempting to leave the country. Authorities stated that Orellana-Carranza had gone to the residence searching for his 2-year-old son, and a confrontation ensued. After a physical altercation with the child’s mother and others at the home, Orellana-Carranza returned with a firearm, shooting Montenegro and wounding a 17-year-old.

Orellana-Carranza has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held in Travis County Jail on a $250,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing, and police encourage anyone with information to come forward.
