Fatal Deville crash death of Gretchen A. Lucas – Obituary

Gretchen A. Lucas, a 33-year-old woman from Acme in Concordia Parish, was killed Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 28 East and Rosier Road in the Deville area, according to Louisiana State Police.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. as Lucas was driving a 2019 Honda Pilot eastbound on La. 28 East, following a 2013 Peterbilt truck that was preparing to make a left turn onto Rosier Road. Authorities reported that Lucas did not slow down in time, causing her vehicle to rear-end the Peterbilt. The impact forced her SUV into the westbound lane, where it was struck by a 2020 Freightliner.

Lucas, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt was unharmed, while the Freightliner driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
