Mount Sterling, KY Woman Erica McColgan Charged in Montgomery County Deadly Crash

MOUNT STERLING, KY — Erica McColgan, a 28-year-old resident of Mount Sterling, was charged in Montgomery County following a fatal two-vehicle collision on April 19.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, McColgan was taken into custody after allegedly disregarding a traffic control device and striking another vehicle at the intersection of Indian Mound and Winchester Road. The other vehicle reportedly had at least two occupants, resulting in one fatality and a 1-year-old child being hospitalized in critical condition at the University of Kentucky Hospital’s pediatric ICU for a head injury.

Evidence was presented to the Montgomery County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment charging McColgan with murder, first-degree assault, first-offense failure to maintain required insurance, and third-degree assault of a healthcare provider.
