Chekiel Wright dies in fatal Sedgwick County crash and fire

Fatal Sedgwick County crash and fire death of Chekiel Wright – Obituary

Chekiel Wright, 32, tragically died following a vehicle accident on December 29 in Wichita, Sedgwick County. Emergency crews discovered the vehicle after it had collided with a tree and fence, then caught fire. Wright was a passenger in the car, while the driver, 33-year-old Christian Sheppard of Wichita, sustained serious injuries.

Sheppard was arrested on May 21 and charged with second-degree murder by the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office. He made his initial court appearance on May 22 and was released shortly after posting a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear again before Judge Tyler Roush on June 5 as the case continues to proceed.
