MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — A 39-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both residents of Milwaukee, were arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a Milwaukee police officer near 46th Street and Hampton Avenue on June 12.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the men were confronted by officers after a citizen reported them flashing firearms. When approached, the suspects fled on foot. During the pursuit, a 30-year-old officer encountered the 39-year-old suspect in an alley and ordered him to drop his weapon. The suspect refused, and gunfire was exchanged. Both the officer and the 39-year-old man were struck and later hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.
