Fatal Lauderdale County shooting death of Antoine Abdallah Akl – Obituary

Antoine Abdallah Akl, 33, from Toney, Alabama, was fatally shot and found deceased inside a vehicle overnight on Friday in Lauderdale County. According to Sheriff Joe Hamilton, deputies responded to a shooting call on County Road 23, where they discovered Akl inside a vehicle off the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Akl had traveled to the location and encountered a juvenile outside a nearby residence. A family member of the juvenile saw the two together inside the vehicle before a confrontation took place. During the incident, a single gunshot was fired, striking Akl inside the vehicle.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the shooting, and no additional details have been released at this time.
