James Jacobi, a 70-year-old resident of Belle Plaine, was killed in a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver in Poweshiek County, according to Iowa State Patrol.

The crash occurred on Highway V18 when another vehicle crossed the centerline and struck Jacobi’s car. The impact resulted in fatal injuries, and Jacobi was pronounced dead at the scene before being taken to a local funeral home.

The other motorist involved, 37-year-old Joshua Allen Klein of Brooklyn, Iowa, was not hurt in the crash.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to determine what led to the vehicle crossing into the oncoming lane.
