Fatal Trumann, Arkansas car crash death of Tyler Slayton

Tragedy struck on I-555 near Trumann, Arkansas, resulting in the death of two individuals during an evening incident. The deceaseds were identified as 36-year-old Tyler Slayton and Jacob Ward, who was 31 years old. They were from Paragould, Arkansas, and were engaged in repairing a vehicle when the accident occurred on the evening of June 26, 2025.

The authorities reported that the fatal collision took place around 7:30 p.m. The two men were found along the shoulder of the highway, approximately near the 23-mile marker, after their vehicle experienced a failure. A vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, driven by Taylor David Rhoades from Pocahontas, collided with them while they were beside the parked car.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene promptly. Despite their efforts, both Slayton and Ward were pronounced dead at the location due to the severity of their injuries.

After the incident, a deputy from Poinsett County observed substantial damage to a vehicle and stopped it for inspection. Further examination by investigators revealed that the heavily damaged vehicle was the one that had caused the deadly collision.

Taylor Rhoades was arrested the following day, on June 27, and is facing several charges, including negligent homicide, driving under the influence, prohibited driving, and eluding law enforcement. He is currently being held in the Poinsett County Detention Center with a bond of $100,000 set by the court.
