Fatal Philadelphia shooting death of Rasheid Lynch

Police authorities in Northeast Philadelphia are actively seeking the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old male. The incident occurred on Thursday.

Emergency responders located Rasheid Lynch, identified by police, in a rear access area on Revere Street. The discovery was made around 6:00 p.m. Upon arrival, medical personnel confirmed the teenager’s death at the scene. According to law enforcement, multiple shots were fired, striking Lynch in his upper body and posterior region.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a white sedan approach the location prior to the incident. A person inside the vehicle allegedly pushed the teenager out of the car’s passenger compartment. The specific events surrounding the shooting are currently being investigated by authorities.

A nearby resident, Angela Smith-Ali, expressed profound fear concerning the incident. “I’m scared, and I don’t want to be,” she stated, emphasizing a desire for safety. “No one wants to live in their house being afraid,” she added, describing her reaction to the violence.

This marks the first violent crime of its nature in the neighborhood where Smith-Ali has resided for two and a half decades. “It was very upsetting and scary that someone can come into your neighborhood and do something like that, and then leave without feeling bad about it,” she shared.

Investigators are reviewing footage from security cameras located in the vicinity in an attempt to identify suspects and vehicles involved.

The public is strongly encouraged to contact the police department at 215-686-TIPS if they have any information regarding this tragic event.
