Fatal Chicago stabbing death of Jordan Wallace
Chicago police are investigating a fatal stabbing and subsequent fire at a residence in the Logan Square area. The accused is a 45-year-old woman who allegedly attacked three minors. One of the children, identified as a 4-year-old, died from injuries sustained during the assault.
A neighbor, Angie Perez, expressed profound grief over the incident, stating, “It was devastating. No one wants to hear about a loss of life, especially involving a child.â€ÂÂ
Emergency services were first dispatched to the home on the morning of July 4th due to a reported medical issue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a fire that obscured the horrific scene inside. An unnamed officer recounted, “I heard a child calling for assistance from a basement window. There was visible blood.â€ÂÂ
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Jordan Wallace, the 4-year-old, was stabbed multiple times in the chest and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The other two children suffered severe injuries. A 13-year-old girl had critical wounds to her face, chest, and back, while a 10-year-old boy was stabbed in the right arm.
A nearby resident, Juan Miranda, added, “It’s sad because today is a celebration. This brings sorrow.â€ÂÂ
The fire, which started in the house, spread to the adjacent property, causing roof damage and hospitalizing two people due to smoke inhalation. Three police officers also experienced smoke-related health issues.
“These lives have been shattered. There is no future happiness left for them amid this tragedy,†Perez remarked.
The woman remains in custody. Authorities did not disclose any relationship between the suspect and the victims but described the event as a domestic incident involving violence.
