Fatal Texas flooding death of Sarah Marsh
A young girl from the Alabama community of Mountain Brook has sadly passed away as a result of the floods that occurred in Texas. The city’s mayor, Stewart Welch, confirmed this heartbreaking incident, which has deeply affected the local area. Sarah Marsh, who was eight years of age, attended school at Cherokee Bend Elementary School in her hometown. Tragically, she was at Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, when the severe flooding began, leading to her untimely demise. Regrettably, several other children are still unaccounted for in connection with this disaster.
The Marsh family shared a statement on Saturday expressing their profound grief. They described feeling utterly shattered by the loss of Sarah and her dear friends at the camp, emphasizing that such a tragedy overwhelms parents in ways they cannot prepare for. The family noted that this event feels unjust and enduring until another life arrives. Despite appreciating the extensive support and sympathy from others, they requested privacy as they face this unimaginable loss. They also mentioned keeping the affected campers, staff, and families in their thoughts, praying for their rescue and return to safety. Signed, The Marsh Family.
Mayor Welch conveyed the community’s sorrow, stating that Mountain Brook is filled with sadness for Sarah and her family, and that the community is uniting to provide comfort, prayers, and assistance to them in any way possible.
