Ashley Salazar, who was 25 years old, was driving a Chevrolet Cruz in the wrong direction and hailed from Clarksburg. Her vehicle struck the other car, which was driven by Jeremy De La Torre, a 33-year-old from Frederick operating a Honda Accord.

Efforts to determine why Salazar deviated from her lane are ongoing. The northbound lanes of I-270 were shut down overnight but have since been reopened. The Maryland State Highway Administration provided support during the road closure.
