An official from the local county office for investigating deaths has shared who the person was who lost their life after being involved in a traffic collision. The person was Regina Covington, a 49-year-old resident of Bennettsville.

The official responsible for the county’s death investigations identified the pedestrian as Regina Covington, who was 49 years old and originally from Bennettsville.

Emergency response teams from the county’s official death investigation office arrived at the scene on Cottingham Boulevard around 11 p.m. because of a reported accident between a car and a person walking. The person involved was pronounced dead right there at the location.

Both the local police agency for Bennettsville and the county’s death investigation office are working together to find out what happened leading up to this deadly event.
