Capitol law enforcement is actively examining a nighttime shooting incident that claimed two lives in Jackson, Mississippi. The event occurred during the early morning hours and led to the deaths of two women.

According to Hinds County’s interim coroner, Jeramiah Howard, Telisa Holder, who was 34 years old, and Racquel Freeman, who was 32, were victims of multiple gunshot wounds. Their deaths happened around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday at a location on Wilmington Street, which is close to University Boulevard.

Investigators involved in the case reported that one female was located outside a vehicle parked near a feed store adjacent to the Fox Den nightclub, while the second woman was found inside the car. The discovery took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Family members of the victims shared that Holder and Freeman had gone to the nightclub for some leisure time but were then targeted when they were preparing to leave. This incident has left relatives feeling unsafe.

A family representative expressed concerns about the rising violence, stating that the situation feels hazardous in every area of the city. This comes at a time when crime rates are escalating and challenging the new mayor, John Horhn.

In the recent past, specifically over the last two days, four people have been shot and killed in Jackson. This ongoing wave of violence is putting pressure on local authorities and the city’s new leadership.
