Fatal New Market shooting death of Evan Mayomi
Law enforcement officials have apprehended a man in connection with a deadly firearm incident that occurred during the early morning hours in New Market. The event transpired on a Sunday, as reported by authorities.
According to Madison County Sheriff’s Office communications, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residential property situated on Bent Creek Lane. The initial report indicated a violent act involving a weapon. Upon arrival, officials found an individual, later confirmed to be Evan Mayomi, who was 23 years old and originally from Birmingham. He sustained a serious injury from a gunshot, specifically to the chest area.
Immediate medical procedures were undertaken by the responding deputies, and additional emergency medical services were summoned. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, the young man did not survive. He was pronounced deceased at the location where the incident took place.
Subsequent to the initial response, specialized units from the sheriff’s office, including those focused on major crimes and evidence collection, investigated the scene. Their probe led to the detention of Xavier Turner, who is 31 years old. Turner is currently being held at the Madison County Jail under conditions without any posted bail.
The probe into this tragic occurrence remains in progress, with no further details released at this time.
