Church Point, Louisiana Man Calvin Scott Wanted in Church Point for Fatal Shooting

CHURCH POINT, LOUISIANA — Calvin Scott, a 26-year-old resident of Church Point, is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Jiveston Hebert.

According to the Church Point Police Department, Scott is being sought on charges of second-degree murder, illegal carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon, and illegal discharge of a firearm. Authorities say the incident occurred on Monday, July 7, on North Wilson Street near West Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Hebert was transported to Acadia St. Landry Hospital around 8 p.m., where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Scott, who has a prior record involving weapons violations and aggravated assault with firearms, remains at large. Investigators urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Church Point Police Department at 337-684-5455 or their local law enforcement agency.
