David Salas Dies in Fatal Pleasantville Car Crash
David Salas, 24, a Bridgeton man, died in a fatal Pleasantville car crash.
State Police reports indicate a Bridgeton man, David Salas, 24, was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a collision on the Atlantic City Expressway. The driver, a 23-year-old woman from Bridgeton, lost control of her car, striking a concrete barrier and toll reader support structure at milepost 4.1 in Pleasantville. Trooper investigation revealed the wreck occurred after responding to a report concerning a driver traveling the wrong way on the eastbound expressway. The fatal accident transpired shortly before 4:30 a.m. on July 5.
Earlier fatal accidents have occurred on New Jersey highways within the past few days. Police reported another fatality involving a 74-year-old motorist near Maurice River Township at approximately 12:05 a.m. on July 4. The driver of the other vehicle in that incident received minor injuries.
Further details regarding the 74-year-old motorist are pending notification of next of kin. The accident happened on State Highway 347, and the opposing driver suffered minor injuries.
In yet another tragic incident, Stephen Field, an 82-year-old resident of Buena Vista’s Milmay section, was killed. The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on July 6 in Buena Vista. Field was turning left from westbound Chestnut Avenue onto County Route 671 when struck by a vehicle that failed to stop properly at an intersection. Police state the occupants of the vehicle that hit Field suffered moderate injuries.
These incidents are currently under investigation by authorities.
