The identity of the man from Salley who passed away in a one-car accident on Thursday afternoon in Aiken County has been confirmed. He is Robert Stempel, a 63-year-old resident. According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Mr. Stempel lost his life after his automobile left the road and crashed into a barrier.

Investigators note that the crash happened around 4:16 p.m. while Stempel was steering his 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche north on South Dixie Road, close to Jordan Creek Road. Weather reports suggest light precipitation affected some parts of the area, while other sections remained dry at the time.
