Fatal Miami Beach collision death of Mila Yankelevich

The involved sailboat and construction barge were taken away from the scene on Tuesday following the deadly incident near Miami Beach. The U.S. Coast Guard has finished alcohol and chemical tests, with results still pending.

A thirteen-year-old girl, whose identity has not been released, was also among the victims. Mila Yankelevich, who resided in both Surfside and Argentina with her family, is remembered as a happy child who enjoyed dancing, singing, and wearing costumes. Social media was filled with messages of sympathy, including one that expressed sorrow and prayers for her family.

Mila was the daughter of television producer and director Tomas Yankelevich and actress Sofia Reca. Her grandmother, Cris Morena, is a well-known television producer, actress, and musician, while her grandfather, Gustavo Yankelevich, is a distinguished television producer and businessman.

The Coast Guard addressed public concerns during a press conference, noting that the barge was relocated to Lido Island and was involved in construction work before the accident. Officials confirmed that all girls involved in the collision were thought to have been wearing life jackets at the time. The agency added that speed is a common factor in vessel movements and that the area is a busy waterway.
