Fatal Hyde Park car crash death of Jean Carlos Hernandez
Chicago police confirmed the death of a 28-year-old man after a collision involving a motorcyclist occurred in Hyde Park on Thursday. According to the Chicago Police Department report, the incident happened at the intersection of 5300 S. Dorchester Avenue around 10 p.m. on August 7. The motorcycle rider, heading westbound, disregarded a traffic signal and crashed into a black sedan going southbound.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Despite the medical attention, the young man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased motorcyclist as Jean Carlos Hernandez, who was from the Kenwood area. The driver of the sedan and its two male passengers suffered only minor injuries and were treated for the accident. They are expected to recover fully.
No arrests have been made, and the Chicago Police Department has not yet issued any citations. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is examining the scene.
