Fatal Boone County car crash death of Bobby John Rodriguez
A significant traffic collision occurred Saturday afternoon in Boone County involving two vehicles. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 55-year-old Bobby John Rodriguez from Waukee was operating a 2025 Honda SxS vehicle heading north on I Avenue. 74-year-old Wayne Melvin Reinhart from Alleman was driving a 2024 Chevy Silverado towards the intersection from the eastbound side of 280th Street. Both drivers arrived at the uncontrolled crossing simultaneously. This was reportedly because the dense cornfield surrounding the area obstructed their visibility, preventing them from seeing each other’s approach clearly. The two motor vehicles met with a collision at the northwest corner of the intersection. Consequently, both vehicles were thrown into a nearby bean field.
Bobby John Rodriguez, who was the driver of the 2025 Honda SxS, did not survive the incident and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His immediate family members were affected by the crash; 40-year-old Rebecca Susan Rodriguez, identified as his daughter and residing in Waukee, was also involved in the accident. She suffered injuries and was airlifted to Methodist Hospital using Life Flight services. Similarly, 9-year-old Noah Rodriguez, also the son of Bobby John and Rebecca Susan, sustained injuries during the crash. He was taken to the same hospital for medical treatment by helicopter. The other driver, Wayne Melvin Reinhart, was not mentioned as requiring hospitalization but was involved in the collision.
