Law enforcement responded to a traffic incident in the early hours of Sunday morning in Darke County. Reports initially indicated a collision occurred on Castine Gordon Road near the community of Laura.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the involved vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, located by itself. A short time later, the driver was found injured but alive in a nearby cornfield.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle. According to available information, the Cruze crossed into the opposing lane before impacting a culvert and subsequently striking a utility pole. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Jacob Hobbs from West Milton, was taken to Wayne Healthcare for treatment of minor injuries.
